Occult blood Stool

In this test, a laboratory looks for any blood in the stool that is not immediately visible to the naked eye. This is called ‘occult’ blood and could be an indication of colon cancer, hemorrhoids, polyps, or other gastrointestinal problems that provoke bleeding. If there is occult blood in your stool, your physician may order additional tests to determine the source.
